Waiting For The Lights

Rapunzel: I’ve been looking out of a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what I might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it’s not everything I dreamed it would be?

Flynn Rider: It will be.

Rapunzel: And what if it is? What do I do then?

Flynn Rider: Well, that’s the good part I guess. You get to go find a new dream.
–Tangled by Walt Disney

Watching for the lights was Rapunzel’s dream and heart’s desire. Raised in a tower 18 years, with little entertainment, she had a fascination for the candle lights that rose into the night sky each year on her birthday.

Her conversation with the movie scoundrel, Flynn Rider caused her to begin thinking about her dreams, desires, and soon to be love interest.

Rapunzel’s question about her dream coming true then wanting to know…”what do I do then?”…strikes at each of us. What now? After my dreams come true, what’s next?

Perhaps you are waiting for your first dream to materialize. Perchance you move from dream to dream without ever realizing the magic or excitement that one experiences in dreams coming true. You might even wonder why Ken is living in a fairy tale…correct?

Take heart, God has a dream…or plan for you. Let’s read this verse.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Did you catch that? God has a Plan for you….a hope and future for you!
Let that sink in…..God cares about you…..and, He has an agenda….a blueprint for your life. Does that mean he has every detail planned out with no choices on your part?

Let’s think about this. Imagine yourself with your child. Do you plan out every…single…detail of your child’s life? Or do you map out the main events while giving time for your child to make decisions along the way?

Granted, this is a primitive explanation and way to look at how God works, yet…if we as parents care so much for our children, imagine how much God cares for YOU.

God has a plan for our lives. He loves us more than we can envision, and he wants to be deeply involved in our pilgrimage in this life.

Hope and future….translated “dreams.” Stated in 21st century English, God has a dream for each of us…and…He wants to share it with us.

Are you waiting for the lights? Do you feel as if the lights have gone out? Your dreams are gone? Hope is gone?

Take heart! Don’t give up!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD.
God has a dream for you!
Ken
