Rise Up – Lent Day 11

But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired. Isaiah 40:31

“You need to wait.”
                         “Don’t you have patience?”
“Just wait. I’ll tell you when to go!”

Lent involves waiting…waiting…and more waiting. Now, don’t get the wrong impression, waiting can bring good results. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD, Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations 3:26. We wait for the important things in our lives. We have a Holy hope that God is moving us from a beginning toward an amazing ending.

But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up…Isaiah wrote this familiar verse from the viewpoint of waiting with the end in view. “You’re already waiting, so here’s what you are stretching or reaching for. The key word or high point of the verse is “rise up.” “As you’re waiting, look toward the day when you rise up! And finally… The waiting is over…Rise Up!

During Lent, as we wait patiently, we pray, prepare and watch. God is at work…pray for his divine strength, prepare for the coming miracle and watch God do far more than we can imagine. Isaiah explained our rising as flying, running and walking. Are you ready to rise up? It only comes through waiting.

Lent – waiting.

Soon the waiting will be over, and we will…Rise Up!
